New York May Day 2012 (May 1st) // Coalition for Workers and Immigrants Protest.
The Coalition for Workers and Immigrants Rights protested today in downtown New York City (Union Square) on May 1st, symbolically called “May Day.”
Dozens of immigrant groups, labor representatives and activists from Occupy Wall Street were actively demonstrating.
The organizers said that the protest was supposed to be “against the oppressive system” and a “stand up for justice.”
According to May1.Info The Supreme Court of Florida decision on the Trayvon Martin case is a central issue of the rally: its impact on shedding the light on today’s people profiling in America, has to be “recognized.”
The will for an equal access to education and opportunities has been voiced and strongly supported with banners.
A March from Union Square to Wall Street, raised thousands of people through the City and echoed rallies worldwide at some places like Santiago raising extreme violence.

A concrete face and a marble heartThis night we met, this time you put me apart.Trapping me on each and every sidewalk of the streetConfronting and striking my pride with your battlementsYou defeated me.From the whispering of your harsh wordsYou appeased my heart with the kind ones. From time to time you rest against meLike a child you refile my love for you again. The night comes and You go back to your wild jungle.-VerlaineDiane
